Offended by comments
As a graduate of the high school which Jim Hanak is CEO of, and as an atheist, I am offended by his comments in “Vandalism of tree raises thoughts” (DLN, Jan. 1, 2008). His implication that the vandalism to the “Tree of Knowledge” may have been carried out by Nazis or Communists in need of atheist readings is not just ignorant, but it is irresponsible.
By and large, atheists are humanists whom believe in man’s innate goodness. My community has respected his throughout this season, something Mr. Hanak seems to forget.
“The Tree of Knowledge” is not an attempt to mock the Christmas tree of the Christian faith, but an attempt to share in the winter display and celebration.
I applaud the Freethought Society for its contribution in educating Chester County about alternative ways of thinking. Unfortunately, Mr. Hanak’s comments only contribute to the challenges we face in building religious tolerance in America.

grilled cheese incident
This hot sauce is my favorite. I didn't discover it until this year when I found it in my college's dining hall, but oh my gosh I will never go back to any other hot sauce. I use it on my eggs... sandwiches... pretty much anything.
